Even though recycling on RWC1 property isn't an option, recycling resources are nearby.
St. Albert the Great Catholic Church at Bittern Hollow and Metric Blvd. has a recycling bin for aluminum cans and paper.
St. John's Episcopal Church at Parkfield and Braker Lane also has a recycling bin for newspapers and other paper. They don't accept cans.
All of your recycling needs can be met at Ecology Action, Austin's Recycling Center. They are located on 9th Street and I-35. Their hours are Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday & Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. They recycle a number of items:
- Newspaper
- Paper and Pressed Cardboard (like cereal boxes and egg cartons)
- Aluminum Cans, Foil, and Pie plates
- Tin Cans
- Metal
- Plastic (#1 and #2). Included are bottles, jars, drink containers, and trays.
- Glass Bottles and Jars
- Corrugated Cardboard
- Telephone Books, Hard & Soft cover books
There are many other recycling options in Austin. Check 'em out!
Besides recycling, how can you go green? Banning plastic bags, buying recycled goods, carpooling, and saving energy are just a few ideas!
